Hello all! Sorry for my lack of posting last week! I had four tests, a big project due, and had to prepare for my weekend trip to Mexico. Needless to say, the blog took a backseat temporarily. I’m hoping to get some filler posts up soon, so keep your eyes peeled for some really exciting content this week!
Also, if you haven’t noticed, I’m moving back to travel-related content. Although fashion and food aren’t going anywhere anytime soon, I’m aiming to change my feed to incorporate more travel photos as well as help to show off the beautiful city I live in. I’ve been trying to switch up my feed for a while, which you may have seen on my Instagram account, and I think I finally found a happy medium. My new filters add an airy vibe to my fashion photos, while keeping the nature of my travel photos in tact. With this Mexico trip, and two trips coming up soon, hopefully this transition will be seamless.
Anyway, I’m breaking this Mexico trip recap post down into two sections: what to pack and what to do. This post will focus on what to pack for a weekend getaway to an all-inclusive resort while the next post will focus mainly on all the things you can do (and eat) when you’re there! Think packing guide and travel guide.
Resort Wear for Dinner
I was really glad I brought something somewhat nice to wear to dinner. It’s not like you couldn’t wear casual clothes to the restaurants on-site, but I felt a lot more comfortable in something a bit dressier for the evenings at the dining options. I think, at resorts, the dining places stay rather casual during the day and get a bit fancier at night. A simple dress with sandals would definitely suffice. Also keep in mind, I’m a blogger, so I dress up for everything.
Add to your packing list:
Sundress: Something nice enough to wear to a nice dinner.
Sandals (not flip flops): Just an easy pair of shoes to slip on that aren’t flip flops! I recommend a cute pair of slides – mine were from Forever 21!
Attire for Special Activities
When you’re planning your weekend getaway, try your best to put together a tentative itinerary before you pack. If you have an idea of what you’re doing, packing becomes so much easier.
For example, on this trip, I went golfing, so I made sure to pack socks, golf shoes, a polo, and an athletic skort. Don’t forget any items you need for your activities like golf clubs!
Add to your packing list:
Activity-specific clothing/shoes/items: This depends on your planned activities.
Beach Attire
Ok, if you’re going to a resort, you can’t forget your beach and pool wear! Bring some extra swimsuits to give your others a time to dry (there is nothing worse than putting on a damp swimsuit)! I recommend some cheap flip-flops and a cute cover up too. My sundress is from ThredUp, which is the perfect place to pick up some inexpensive beach wear!
Add to your packing list:
Swimsuit(s): Make sure to bring more than one!
Flip-Flops: I brought my Rainbows, but I would recommend something you don’t mint getting wet!
A sun hat: Even if you’re just putting it on your face while you tan, this is a great thing to have beachside or poolside.
Easy Beauty Essentials
I almost never bring makeup on my trips unless I know I have an event to attend. For this trip, I brought my Shaklee YOUTH® regimine. These products are all 100% vegan and cruelty free, so these natural products are perfect for vacation. I brought my Youth Activating Serum, Radiance C+E, and Youth Activating BB Cream. Since these products are more based on skincare rather than makeup and work on preventing breakouts rather than covering them up, they’re perfect for keeping my skin clear.
For more details about YOUTH:
Youth Activating Serum: This serum is the critical regeneration step in the regimen. It supports collagen production for superior radiance and rejuvenation. I use it before the BB cream.
Radiance C+E: This helps restore radiance with a powerful, patented dose of 20% vitamin C to reduce the appearance of age spots, smooth skin texture and improve overall skin tone. Plus, it also has vitamin E and raspberry cell extract to plump, brighten and visibly reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. I use this before bed!
Youth Activating BB Cream: This 5-in-1 beauty balm helps even, correct, hydrate, nourish and protect your skin. Plus, it contains naturally-derived, chemical-free SPF 30 Broad Spectrum UVA/UVB protection. The BB Cream provides buildable coverage; lighter with just one layer, or add more for additional coverage. There are 4 different shades so you can find your perfect match with one or a blended mix of two for your own customized shade. I use a lighter shade to conceal and highlight and a darker shade to bronze. This cream is the perfect light layer for vacation and it’s a bonus that it has SPF too.
Add to your packing list:
Face moisturizer: Make sure to not let salt water or pool water dry your face out. Moisturizer is the perfect thing to throw in a bag if you want to keep your skincare simple.
Chapstick: If you’re partying in Mexico, make sure to bring some chapstick to prevent cracked lips.
Miscellaneous
So for those things you definitely don’t want to forget…
Add to your packing list:
Sunscreen: If you’re going to be getting sun, put on your sunscreen!
Hair Ties: I literally can’t believe I forgot to bring a single hair tie on this trip. I was able to borrow one for golf, but wish I had one for the whole trip! Don’t forget to bring at least one or two!
Sunglasses: A must-have when you’re enjoying the sunny weather.
Bottled Water: The resort will probably have it for you, but a little extra bottled water is nice to have in the room.
Passport (and a copy): Make a copy of your passport before you go and keep it somewhere safe. I also saved a scan on my computer where I could also access it from my phone and sent it to my parents. Just in case, a copy of your passport is good to have.
So what are your vacation essentials?

Loved how organised the post is… The pointers are awesome and simple. My type of packing.
Thank you so much Celia! I like to keep it simple too!
