With the holidays coming up, there is a lot to prepare for. You have to get ready for finals (if you’re in school), you have to start cleaning to prepare for guests, you have to pack to go home, the list goes on and on. It’s a busy time for everyone. Maybe you’re hosting a party. That’s even more stress. To ease your stress, I’m giving you a 3-in-1 outfit post and a double-the-trouble topic post. Yes, I’m covering all of it.
If you’re hosting a party, I have the lowdown on where to get your invites. If you’re attending one, I have three outfit ideas to inspire your wardrobe all based on the theme of the party. So if you’re getting ready for holiday parties, get excited – this is a good one.
For the host:
Getting nervous about where to get your invites? Don’t stress. I have a new company to introduce to you plus a discount code for 30% off your order.
The company is called Basic Invite and they focus on everything from invitations to business cards to holiday cards. They have you covered for all your stationery needs.
Here are some of the things about Basic Invite that will make getting your Christmas party invitation (and everything else) that much better:
Almost Unlimited Colors: Basic Invite is one of the few websites that allows almost unlimited color options for your cards and instant previews online. Each design allows you to change the color of each element on the card to 180+ color options so you can make sure the card is exactly how you want it down to the littlest detail.
Custom Samples: They also allow you to order a printed sample of their actual invitation so you can see exactly how it will look when it’s printed. You can feel the card in your hand and see it with your own eyes before you place a massive (and final) order.
Over 40 Different Colors of Envelopes: Another unique thing about Basic Invite are all color options you have for your envelopes. You can choose from over 40 different colors for the envelope so it stands out when it’s received in the mail! All of our envelopes are peel and seal too, so no worries about licking those nasty glue strips.
Address Capturing Service: If you have friends around the country (or world) like I do, Basic Invite also offers a simple address capturing service that allows you to share a link on any social media and collect all your friends and family’s addresses! You just select who you want to send them too and Basic Invite can print those addresses on the cards for free.
Foil: If you’re feelin’ extra, you can also get foil holiday cards! They’re available in gold, silver, and rose gold (my personal fave, of course). You can choose flat or raised foil on all of the foil designs.
Now, for your Christmas cards, they offer over 250 Christmas card and holiday card designs. So whatever you need, they can do it.

For the office:
Did you get a work holiday party invitation? Then here is the perfect holiday work outfit. With some classic slacks, a holiday-colored sweater, and a little bling, you can’t go wrong.
This sweater has a moderate neckline, nothing too risqué for the office, and these slacks are a simple pair of wool slacks that are good year-round. For those who want to recreate a work appropriate look, you can totally do it with what you already have in your closet. I don’t personally own a winter sweater (I borrowed my mom’s last year), but if you have one, now’s the perfect time to break it out! Don’t forget to make the outfit shine a little more with a statement necklace or pair of earrings – just make sure they look winter-y!
For the home:
For the cookie exchange type of party, go for cozy. I’m wearing an oversized, boxy sweater from Knot Sisters, but I would totally opt for an ugly Christmas sweater if I had one. I paired it with my favorite winter booties and high waist jeans to make for the perfect, simple combo!
For the party:
And last but not least, for that glam party, pull out all the stops and go for the glitter. I’m wearing an old favorite of mine (I snagged it on Poshmark for about 80% off) but it is the perfect New Years Eve or glam holiday party. Opt for something with sparkle and shine. You can never go wrong with a black dress, but dark green or burgandy velvet is always a hit in the winter. Just remember to make an entrance!
