The worst part about moving around so often is finding the perfect place to go for all your new beauty appointments. I know how hard it was to find my regular spots, but now I’ll be sad to leave them when I move! So, if you’re moving to Tucson and are in need of some new places to frequent for all your beauty needs, you can read about some of my recommendations in this post.
Eyebrows
When I first moved to Tucson, I used to wait months in between wax appointments so that I could always go to my girl back home. Now, as I’m sure you can see, I have full eyebrows. I don’t fill them in and I don’t need to, but if I neglect them at all… Well, let’s just say “Mia Thermopolis in The Princess Diaries pre-makeover” style brows come out in full swing.
A few years ago, it was extremely difficult to find someone who didn’t wax my eyebrows too thin. Those thin brows were “in” and I wanted to keep mine full. It’s a little easier to find someone now that everyone wants “on fleek.”
I transitioned to European Wax Center in my Sophomore year of college because I wanted to get my brows done before one of my sorority date dashes. I was super hesitant to go to a new waxer, but picked European Wax Center because your first wax is free. Yep, you heard that right. Free.
It took me a while to find someone I loved enough to request every single time, since all the waxers are pretty good and I loved that I could book online last minute. I started seeing Mimi at the 1st Ave location, about a year ago and she’s now my go-to girl. I mean, just look at those brows.
If you want to try out European Wax Center, check it out (remember, first wax free) and tell them I referred you!
Hair
I’ll be honest here – I don’t actually get my hair cut very often. I’m lucky if I get in for a trim twice a year. Generally, I just go to the Aveda Institute on Park Ave. because you can get a cut and hair mask for about $30. It’s super reasonable, but it can take a long time for something even as simple as a trim.
Now, I have a lot of hair.
Every time I get a hair cut, the appointment goes something like this:
Me: I have a lot of hair.
Hairdresses: That’s ok! This should only take an hour or two!
*Two hours later*
Hairdresser: Wow, you have so much hair! This is taking a lot longer than I thought!
I’m pretty much used to it by now, so just take some of what I say with a grain of salt if you have less hair than I do.
I recently got my hair cut and colored and if you’re looking for a colorist, Karolina at Gadabout Salons does a great job with all things ombre, balayage, highlights, and anything in that range! Just look at the magic she worked on my old, grown-out color!
Nails
Last but not least: my nail place. I get my nails done about once or twice per month because I hate having ratty nails. Especially if you’re in busiess, you need good looking nails for shaking hands. After all, that’s the first impression you make!
My guy, Tony, at Wildcat Nail Spa will totally take care of you. I’ve been going to him for two years and he not only does a great job, but is probably one of the most reasonably priced places in Tucson! If you’re attending school in Tucson, he also offers student discounts and is conveniently located right on Campbell and Grant. Parking is a bit inconvenient, but I’ve never had trouble finding a spot.
So there you go, some of my favorite places for my beauty appointments in Tucson. I hope this helps those of you who are new to the area or looking for a new place!
So glad you found your places! It can be so hard to find one that you love after already knowing places you loved!
