Everybody has a vice. Mine happens to be designer shoes. Mom and dad, if you’re out there reading this, just know that there are a lot of worse vices out there. I just like shiny, expensive things. Did you expect anything less from the girl who’s first experience at a department store was running up to the jewelry display and pressing her face against the glass? (I pretty much still do this, but in a much more adult way. It’s just me trying on a bunch of shoes going, “these are cute, these are nice.”) Some kids chose candy; I chose sparkly things.
My love for jewelry didn’t diminish at all over the years (I’ve got a huge crush on basically every David Yurman piece), but my love for shoes definitely grew. I mean, shoes are basically jewelry for the feet. Since I’m someone who often wears simple tops and jeans to the office every day, shoes are my favorite way of dressing up outfits. Not to mention, both of my parents love shoes. It’s practically genetic.
The first time I laid eyes on the Valentino Rockstud Noir pumps, my jaw basically hit the floor. (Funny enough, I still don’t own these shoes. One day…) That was the day I decided to save up for a pair of designer shoes. In the summer of 2018, I finally bit the bullet and bought my first pair of designer shoes ever. From there, my love for designer grew and my spending habits definitely began to change.
Now, we all have buyer’s remorse every once in a while. Thank goodness I’ve never had it for my designer items. But, here are the top 5 best designer shoes I definitely don’t regret.
Gucci Princetown Mules
There’s a reason these were my first purchase. I wear these shoes easily 3-5 times each week. I slide them on for work most days, pack them on nearly every trip I go on, and wear them constantly to happy hours and evening dinners. Everyone loves these shoes and it’s easy to see why. They go with everything and every occasion. Jeans, denim skirts, dresses, you name it and the Gucci Princetown mule somehow looks perfect with it.
When it comes to your first designer purchase, I highly recommend these. They will be a staple in my wardrobe for years to come. Even my mom commented on how nice they looked and how comfortable they were!
By Far Tanya Mules
I do live in a place where it’s practically sunshine and summer all year round, so these babies get a lot of use. They do have a block heel, so they’re rather easy to walk in, but I wouldn’t recommend walking all day in these. They do tend to rub my toes the wrong way by the end of the day if I do a lot of walking.
However, I love wearing them to work with a cute blouse and skinny jeans and the barely-there style perfectly matches all of my midi dresses to make the legs look longer! Talk about a win.
Dior J’adior Slingback Flats
On the days I don’t wear my Gucci mules to work, I wear my Dior Flats. Although part of me wishes I purchased them in nude instead of black (maybe one day…), the black fabric seems a lot more sturdy than the leather on my mules. Patent leather does hold up better though, so maybe the nude patent pair would be a good investment…
I tend to pair these with some of my more plain button downs and blouses and I love how the pointed toe looks on my feet. Mine may be a half size too big, but they are still comfortable to wear around all day. I also get compliments on them almost every time I wear them!
Side note: I could only find them for purchase online at Dior.com but they were in stock at my local Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus in several colors, patterns, and materials.
Jimmy Choo Romy Pumps
Although these shoes might not get quite as much action as my other pairs, I’ll tell you why these shoes are still one of my favorites. Other than the fact that these shoes are totally sexy and confidence-inducing, they are my go-to shoes for those events when you need a solid black pump. Formal party or event? I’m set. Fancy dinner? Good to go. Vegas? Say no more. So maybe they aren’t an everyday pair of shoes, but they’re the pair that rounds out my closet.
Valentino Rockstud Jelly Thong Sandals
The thing about flip-flops is that I kind of wear them everywhere, all the time. It’s easy for me to say that this was a good purchase for me because I just know that they will get a ton of wear, just like my other flip-flops.
I caved on these because I loved the Neiman Marcus exclusive color with the gunmetal studs on a dark gray shoe. I’m pretty sure these are limited edition, but for me, they were a must-have classic. These sandals seem to sell out every year, so I must not be the only one that loves them!
Are there any designer shoes on your must-have list? I’m completely lusting over the khaki suede Chloe Susanna Boots and I’ve had my eye on the Valentino Rockstud Noir pumps for years!
