So, if you don’t know, I came down with the flu over the weekend. I spend days with little to no willpower to get out of bed, went through two whole boxes of tea, and ordered soup delivery straight to my apartment because I still haven’t gone grocery shopping. This is not how I saw the weekend going. All these years, I told myself I didn’t need to get a flu shot, but now I finally see why it’s so important. I guess this is what you call growing up. You know what else growing up means? That after years and years of practice, I’ve finally managed to work out how to do a decent fishtail braid. If you like it, get excited, because that tutorial is coming up on my new YouTube channel real soon. (I’m also thinking an everyday makeup tutorial, but I’m no beauty guru so we’ll see how that goes.)
I put this look together over winter break and after seeing how well it went together, I knew it had to be one of the few valentine’s day looks I was going to feature on my blog. I had a collaboration planned, but the package got lost in the mail somewhere (and I have high hopes for this collab, so keep your eyes peeled), so this is what I call successful improvising.
I searched high and low on Nordstrom’s website, but could not for the life of me, find this shirt again. It’s by Lush, which is one of my favorite brands at Nordstrom, since they have the cutest tunics that can be dressed up or down to easily. I wear them with leggings, I wear them with jeans, I wear them tucked into shirts… seriously, so versatile. The closest one I found to it is from the same brand and sold at Nordstrom Rack. I think they’re almost sold out, but it’s so cute so that makes sense. I’ve linked it below, as always!
I think I’ve shown off these jeans before, but these were one of my best ThredUp purchases to date. These cute skinnies were about $20 and they’re Hudson denim! Talk about a discount! They’re so stretchy that they stretch out more than I realize sometimes, but nothing some time in the dryer can’t fix. Hudson jeans are also sold at Nordstrom, so you can find something similar linked below, but I highly recommend buying premium denim secondhand. Premium denim lasts longer than many people wear it, so you can get good use of out it and pay a lot less!
Rose gold, which is not only my favorite metal, is perfect for Valentine’s Day, especially when paired with dark purples, pinks, and reds. It looks good on everyone and it has this romantic feel to it, which I love. This choker was one I had my eye on from Kendra Scott and my dad got it for me during the holidays. Thank you dad, I absolutely love it. I’ve also got a birthday discount coming up at Kendra soon too, holla! It matches the rose gold on my watch from The 5th perfectly too. The 5th watches are only available a few days a month, so go sign up on their website if you want to get notified of the release on February 5th!
And the shoes. I am obsessed with these shoes. These cute little heels are from ASOS and are short enough to wear to work and add a little edge to this blouse and tee shirt look. I love them. I can even wear them to class without getting too many weird looks. Now, they do have a pointed toe box, so they aren’t entirely comfortable, but as far as pointed heels go, I would say they aren’t that bad.
I hope you like the look and it is so cute and perfect for the Valentine’s Day season! If you can’t tell yet, this dark purple/wine red color is one of my favorites, which is probably why you see at least one post with this color every month. I cannot tell you how happy I am that it ties in perfectly with the season. It’s especially perfect if you like to wear more subtle colors instead of pink and red. Catch me on my next date in this one!
I love the LUSH brand too! Glad you are feeling a bit better!
