Last weekend, I was fortunate enough to be able to go back to Colorado with my boyfriend. No, it wasn’t a romantic getaway. Instead, we spend the weekend with his family and he showed me the state in which he grew up. I probably won’t break the news to him yet, but I really liked it. I haven’t lived in many places with a true “fall” before. Even the brown leaves that littered the ground were beautiful to me. However, I’ve been raised to see the beauty in many different places, and Colorado would be no exception.
I also brought my brand new (to me) camera on this trip: a Pentax K1000 I bought off Ebay. I used Kodak Portra 400 film and I was stunned with how the photos turned out. We took the camera on a hike, to the red rock amphitheater, and down a walking trail in his neighborhood. For the rest of my photos, my iPhone 6S worked just fine. I am, however, super excited to continue using this camera for my travel posts (as well as in my Exploring Tucson series!).
As I said, I was only in Colorado for the weekend (Colorado friends, I will be hitting you up next time). I flew in on Friday night, late in the evening, and flew out on Sunday night, again, late in the evening. I drove back from Phoenix to Tucson, which is a two hour drive, and arrived home a little before 2 AM. Oh, the things we do for love.
On day 1, Tanner took me around his hometown of Littleton and to Red Rocks Amphitheater to play around with the new camera. We went to lunch with his family, which was amazing, and he continued showing me around. He’s trying to sell me on this place, can you tell?
On day 2, we headed up to Boulder for a hike up the Flat Irons, which was amazing and also really hard. My booty was sore for at least two days. He’s also significantly better at climbing rocks than I am, as he’s got long legs and I’ve got big hips that don’t fit through the rocks and legs that can’t touch the bottom. Oh well, it was fun.
We finished our trip with a dinner with his family, a great way to end the weekend. i wish I could have stayed longer, but I guess I’ll see you next time, Colorado.
