I honestly can’t believe that it’s already December. Didn’t the year just really creep up on us? With everything going on, it feels like Halloween was just yesterday! In good (actually, the best) news, I passed all four parts of my CPA exams! I found out yesterday! So, Merry Christmas to me, am I right?
With my limited spare time though, I did manage to get up a few Christmas decorations for the first time in years. If you want to decorate your place (and are a little late to the game, like me) here are my easy Christmas decor tips for quickly decorating a small space!
Think Small
A lot of people think bigger is better when it comes to trees. So, a lot of people want it as tall as they can get it. However, even though I might have 9 foot ceilings, I can’t get a 9-foot tree. Why? Because the taller you get, the bigger the base. We have about a 5 foot tree in our apartment and it fits perfectly in the corner. Had we gone any bigger, it likely wouldn’t have fit in the space.
So, if you live in a smaller space, pay close attention to the circumference of the base of the tree. Make sure it’ll fit where you want to put it!
Get Creative
We didn’t have ornaments, but my roommate picked up some scented pinecones and put them in the tree as decorations. We have a box of gold ornaments we plan on using too, but the pinecones with the lights provides a minimalistic, but still decorated feel.
Buy Online, Pick Up in Store
Now, if you’re decorating late like I am, you don’t have time to wait the standard 5-7 shipping days. My favorite store (ahem, Target) offers a ‘buy online, pick up in store’ option and free two-day shipping on certain orders.
I ordered these right before Thanksgiving (and my dad helped me hang the wreath on Thanksgiving weekend) with two-day shipping. However, I just checked online and both the garland and wreath are available in my local store! Even though my store might not be your store, there are a tob of decorations you can purchase online and pickup within hours for easy speedy decorating. Plus, how cute does this garland look with our media stand? It’s available at Ashley Homestore!
No Cookies, No Problem
If you’re not the baking type, this Christmas Cookie scented candle from Yankee Candle is my favorite scent of the season! I seriously purchase this candle every single year! It smells like you’re baking sugar cookies so it’s perfect for you non-baking types out there.
