I always keep a few things in my fridge for smoothie-making, so here’s my official smoothie shopping list.
Sparkling ICE
Sparkling ICE is perfect for your summer smoothie. There are ZERO calories in it, it tastes great, and adds the perfect fizziness to a smoothie that I really enjoy. You can even buy them on Amazon Prime, which is pretty freakin’ cool. I love using the Orange Mango Flavor in my smoothies with other tropical fruits for the perfect summery flavor.
Check out their other flavors (or variety packs) here.
I love having these at work too since they’re a great soda replacement! I always have a few in my fridge for smoothie (and just normal drinking) purposes.
Frozen Tropical Fruit
My favorite fruits for summer smoothies are peaches, pineapples, and mango. Together, they make for the perfect tropical flavored smoothie. Something about tropical fruit just makes the smoothie taste more like summer. A few stores sell fruit medleys that are perfect to add to a tropical flavored summer smoothie.
Fresh Fruit
If you’re making a smoothie bowl, fresh fruit makes the perfect topping. Bonus: if you end up not using fresh fruit, you can freeze it for later before it goes bad! I often freeze fruit that’s getting old in ziplock bag for perfectly proportioned smoothies later.
Spinach
I’ll be honest with you guys – I don’t like vegetables. With all the other great tasting things in here, it’s so easy to sneak in a serving of vegetables by adding it to a smoothie. You can’t even taste it!
Chia Seeds
Chia seeds really help you to feel full if you decide to use a smoothie as a meal replacement. They expand when wet to take up more room in your stomach. They seriously help for feeling fuller longer when I have breakfast smoothies.
Almond Milk
Almond milk is a great non-dairy alternative to give the smoothie a more creamy texture. Add just enough to get that smoothie blendin’ and it’ll almost taste like you added ice cream!
Greek Yogurt
My favorite thing to make smoothies extra creamy is just a little bit of Plain Greek Yogurt. I don’t add much – just a spoonful to add some creaminess and texture to the overall smoothie. Even if you don’t like yogurt, it’s much better for you to add to a smoothie instead of sweetened yogurt or ice cream!
So what are your favorite things to add to a smoothie?
