Day Before Prep
Picking Outfits: This part is actually the most time consuming part of blog photoshoots. I usually spend 45 minutes to an hour and a half trying on different outfits to see how they will look. Usually, I have ideas in my head already or have worn something previously that I really loved, which makes the process faster. If I have collaborations in the works, I try different combinations with those items to see what I feel would be best on the blog.
My go-to combinations are crop tops with high waisted skirts or blouses tucked into high waist pants. Don’t believe me? Check out my previous outfit posts. I definitely have a uniform going.
Nightly Routine: A good nightly routine is a must before a photoshoot. This means drinking plenty of water, showering (and washing my hair), shaving (because I don’t do that all the time), and making sure my skin is moisturized. I will also blow-dry my hair and add some smoothing cream before bed.
Day of Prep
Makeup: I’m going to be honest with you. I really love makeup, but I only wear it for date nights, popular photo days (like an event or wedding), and blog shoots. Other than that, I think I stay makeup free 90% of the time. That’s not me bragging or anything, I just don’t like taking the time to put it on or figure out what everything is. Don’t get me wrong, I love makeup, I just don’t like doing my makeup.
So, I’ve worked out a few go-to eye looks using my various Urban Decay Naked Palettes and the rest of my look remains basically unchanged.
Hair: I used to do my hair every single day. I used to do my makeup too, but that stopped a long time ago. My hair is something I really like about myself. I have a ton of it, it’s pretty healthy, and I’m able to grow it pretty long. In fact, it’s one of the things others notice about me when I post photos.
Lately, I’ve been using USmooth hair products and I can’t help but notice how awesome my hair has looksed since I started. I’m currently using their straightener, which I’m absolutely in love with. I straighten my hair more often than I curl it, but I love that this tool can do both. It’s not meant to do both, but I can make some gorgeous curls with it – just see the photos! The straightener can adjust to different heat temperatures and comes on a swivel cord. The cord definitely helps with those awkward hair positions (as you can see in my photos)!
These products leave my hair so soft out of the shower and my hair styles perfectly the next day. When it’s either windy or humid, I’ll use the USmooth Hairspray as well. It holds really well without weighing down my already heavy hair too much.
usmooth Products I’m using:
usmooth 1.5″ Styling Iron
usmooth Revive Cleanse
usmooth Revive Condition
usmooth Flex Medium Spray
usmooth Texture Volume Spray
