I can’t believe I’m sharing with this recipe with you guys today. It’s my family favorite and I just need to share the secret with the world. This recipe is super easy and involved one secret ingredient – pickles. I know, you probably think I’m crazy. But, I love the added crunch and salt in the flavor. We also fry our own taco shells instead of buying hard taco shells from the store. They taste way better this way. No matter what twist you decide to put on these tacos, I promise this easy taco recipe will not disappoint.
Tacos are fairly easy, so even though I put my ingredients below, the recipe is pretty self explanatory. But, I did want to share this winning combination with the world.
It’s a bit of an Americanized taco recipe, but I’ve been eating this for as long as I can remember. So, it’s been in my family for a while. Plus, you can never go wrong with a good taco night.
Now, for those of you who haven’t fried things before, just be careful! That oil can get hot. The rest of the recipe is mostly just browning the meat and chopping up the other ingredients.
Either way, enjoy this easy taco recipe tonight for Taco Tuesday!

- Brown the ground beef. Add salt and pepper as desired. OPTIONAL: add taco seasoning.
- If not already done, chop all vegetables and shred the cheese.
- FOR THE TACO SHELLS: Place a small amount of vegetable oil in a frying pan. The tortilla should be just covered by the oil when placed in the pan. Heat the oil on high and fry each individual tortilla, removing oil with paper towels.
- TO FRY: With a pair of tongs, place the tortilla in the oil and fully submerge it. Using the tongs, hold the tortilla folded in half like a taco shell. This will give it the shape you desire. Do this on both sides for about 30-45 seconds on each side or until the tortilla holds its shape.
