Once upon a time, a girl bought a black leather skirt on sale from Nordstrom Rack. She wore the skirt practically every day in the fall, matching it with silk camis, tee shirts, blouses, tunics… you name it, she probably paired it with this leather skirt. When the weather got cold, she wore thick black tights, taking the fall piece seamlessly into the mild winter temperatures. But then, something horrible happened. Someone told her that she couldn’t wear that leather skirt in the spring. “It’s too dark,” they said. “Leather isn’t a spring texture.”
Of course, this fashion blogger wasn’t having it. She scoured her closet for pieces that would match with this versatile leather skirt in hopes to make it look like something one could wear in the spring. Denim? Check. A bandana? Perfect. Together, with a cute star bandana and a chambray shirt, she strutted outside in her new favorite spring outfit. No one could tell her that she couldn’t wear black leather in the spring.
Well, you all have been witness to the first fashion related short story I’ve ever written. Here’s to hoping that doesn’t happen again and, if it does, that my story line significantly improves. The story, however, is not far off on how I feel about wearing this skirt currently. But then again, I’ve never been one to follow seasonal fashion rules. Cheers to wearing white after labor day, leather in the spring, and maroon red in the summer.
The only thing that really makes this outfit work is the star print bandana. Honestly, I picked it up on a whim at J Crew and now, all of the sudden, I can’t stop wearing bandanas and scarves. Maybe this is finally my own take on the everlasting choker trend. The glasses are also a cute, newer addition to my wardrobe too and I absolutely love the casual frames and how they instantly add a little something to all my looks.
The shoes. Please, let me talk about these beautiful, comfortable, versatile shoes that are on MAJOR SALE at Maude Boutique. Honestly, this is the best price you’ll get on a pair of Seychelles shoes, and they are so on trend with the mule style that’s currently taking over Instagram. Both pairs of shoes I’ve gotten from Maude have been from Seychelles and I am so happy with how versatile and comfy (after you break them in) they are. They’re such classic shoes, you just can’t go wrong.
So folks, are there any trends from the winter that you’ll be trying to bring into the spring season?
