Saguaro National Park

The longer I spend in Tucson, the more I come to appreciate the beauty that this place has to offer. We even have a national park here, if you can believe it. Saguaro National Park: a whole park dedicated completely to cactus. When my boyfriend is in town, I love taking the opportunity to explore places where we can get away from campus because there isn’t much in Tucson other than the university.

A few years ago (and by a few, I mean a whole lot), my parents took me to this park while I had an ear infection. There’s an old photo of me in a matching two-piece set my grandma made, complete with a bright fish pattern, hands on my hips with plenty of sass. I do not look happy. Well, this time, complete with the film camera, I looked a lot happier.

It seemed a lot bigger when I was a kid, but I’m a lot bigger than I used to be too.

There’s something beautiful about this place. It’s quiet and serene. It was only me, Tanner, and another couple here. I hope you can enjoy some of Tucson’s beauty that I’m sharing with you.

The day as a whole was a good day. Tanner and I had brunch at one of the favorite local places and spent the rest of the day here, taking photos with my new camera, until we had to leave to go on our next adventure.

Do you have a favorite place in your local city or town?

Lovely photos Kirsten! I haven’t actually seen a wild cactus before, only the huge amount of little potted ones that are so popular at the moment. I’ve really wanted to go to Arizona but currently it’s never really been on the cards.
