Every year, I seem to wait until the absolute last minute to get my Halloween costume. I do this every year. Last year, I found out about 4 days in advance that I would be attending not one, but two Halloween parties for the first time in years. For my work party, I went as a ‘third wheel.’ While the costume was a hit, I wanted something different for the next weekend, but something cute and not over the top.
I dressed up as Esmerelda as a kid; she was always one of my favorite Disney characters. When I realized I needed a costume in about 4 days, I did the thing everyone does: I went to Amazon Prime. I was shocked at how many things couldn’t be delivered until November or December. Luckily, I found all the pieces I needed for an Esmerelda costume that could arrive in two days.
I already owned a top from Reformation that would work for the costume, so I didn’t feel as bad ordering a few pieces to complete it. Even though Esmerelda is barefoot in the movie, I also thought these boots from Christy Dawn would work well with the overall aesthetic for the night.
The outfit ended up being a hit at the bar all night and was quite the conversation starter. It may even make an appearance next year too.
