I truly love sweaters. They’re cozy and, honestly, the best way to wear what feels like a blanket to work. I’ve picked up several this season and, in the spirit of the holidays, had to share my absolute favorite with you! I’m a huge advocate for the cozier the better, so you won’t find any scratchy fabrics or itchy knits in this sweater guide!
A Cozy Cardigan
Cardigans are like the fairy godmother of cardigans. Button it up for a top. Throw it on over a tank top to make it work appropriate. Wrap yourself up and pretend like you didn’t just wear a blanket out in public. The coziest one I picked up was from the Lou + Grey brand and features an oversized knit yarn. The pattens change it up and make it interesting – it’s the one I’m wearing in this photoshoot!
The other tan sweater I picked up is also Lou + Grey and the white cardigan is from Abercrombie. (Keep an eye out for the Abercrombie one today – I just know it’ll be on sale!) The Abercrombie cardigan is one of the softest cardigans I own – definitely going to be another favorite this season. (After all, I’m really only sharing favorites here.) The short cardigan has been my favorite to button up and throw on with dark jeans and booties for a polished and cozy work look.
(The last cardigan is just the same as the first but in blue.)
A Chenille Pullover
Chenille is without a doubt my favorite material in the winter. Even though all of the other sweaters in this post are super cozy, you really can’t beat chenille for softness. This season, I picked up a purple pullover from Sanctuary brand and it’s, by far, the softest chenille I’ve ever come across. The second one I got from Aéropostale is the best bargain you’ll find on chenille – that’s for sure. It’s not as soft as other chenille sweaters I own, but you can’t beat the $20 price tag!
A Little Pointelle Detail
Pointelle is always such a fun detail. I’m always drawn to the intricate knits that add just a little something extra to my sweater collection. I wore the cream Abercrombie knit in one of my previous posts here and the plum one from Aéropostale here. They’re so easy to wear with a simple pair of jeans and booties or over-the-knee boots because the details on the sweater make the outfit on their own!
Other Sweaters that don’t fit in a category
These sweaters are a few of my other favorites that just didn’t seem to fit in a category above. One is a green mock-neck sweater with flared sleeves, one is a cute crop sweater with boucle detail, and the last is the softest (non-chenille) sweater I’ve ever worn! Don’t forget to check these out too!
How I’m styling sweaters this year:
This year, I’ve been trying to mix details and textures. I don’t venture very far into the mixing patterns category, so this is the perfect way to mix patterns without really mixing patterns.
This outfit features the cozy cardigan I talked about above, layered over a simple dolman tee and paired with a plaid skirt. The texture in the cardigan and plaid pattern in the skirt make it feel like there are two different patterns without there really being two different patterns. Easy-peezy. Plus, since winter in Phoenix just doesn’t get that cold, this is about the extent of my winter-weather warm outfits. This is the season we suffer through the summer for. Think of me when you’re scraping that ice off your windshield!
